From Worry to Worship - The Just Shall Live by Faith

Truths from the Book of Habakkuk

Habakkuk: Meaning “He that embraces; a wrestler” or “the strong embrace of God.”  Context: Worshipping the true God in the midst of a disintegrating culture.  Main point: From Habakkuk worrying about national circumstances to Habakkuk worshipping the true God.

1. The Prophet Perplexed (1:1-4) - Habakkuk sees great evil in the land and he is perplexed that God does not punish the iniquity of Judah.
2. The Lord’s Reply (1:5-11) - The Lord replies to Habakkuk that He - God - will use the Babylonians to punish Judah.
3. The Prophet Questions God’s Reply (1:12-17) - Habakkuk questions God’s choice of a more wicked nation to punish Judah.
4. God’s Answer (2:1-2:20) - The just people in Judah will survive, and the unjust Chaldeans will die.
5. From Worry to Worship (3:1-19) - The prophet Habakkuk, in the midst of horrible circumstances and an uncertain future, chooses to pray, trust and rely upon the Lord.

Recorded May 30, 1999, San Luis Obispo, CA.  This message was given to California Polytechnic State University students.
